Otoplasty Procedure:

The surgeon makes a small incision in the back of the ear to expose the cartilage, then sculpts the cartilage and bends it back towards the head. Non-removable stitches may be used to help maintain the new shape. Occasionally, the surgeon may remove a large piece of cartilage to provide a more natural-looking fold. The patient’s head will be wrapped in a bulky bandage immediately following surgery to promote the healing. The ears may throb or ache a little for a few days, but this can be relieved by medication.

Within a few days, the bulky bandages will be replaced by lighter headdressing, similar to a headband. Be sure to follow your surgeon’s directions for using this dressing, especially at night. Stitches are usually removed or dissolved in about a week.

Earlobe Repair

Earlobe repair is a relatively simple procedure to allow an earlobe to heal after incidents such as elongated piercing, stretching, tearing, and keloid scarring. In this procedure, the surgeon cuts away some healed skin on the inside of the torn earlobe. The fresh edges are sutured back together. The suture is removed after five days.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can you imagine no longer feeling self-conscious about the appearance of your ears? Otoplasty (also known as bat ear correction) can make that a reality. It’s a surgical procedure that reshapes prominent ears, bringing them closer to the head and creating a more balanced and harmonious facial appearance.

If you’ve ever felt held back by your ears or wished they were less noticeable, otoplasty can provide a lasting solution.

While individual circumstances vary, ideal candidates are generally:

  • In good health: Individuals who are in good overall health and have realistic expectations about the outcome.
  • Have large or “bat-like” ears: Those with especially large ears, or have ears that protrude significantly, make excellent candidates for otoplasty.
  • A desire for self-enhancement: Those who are seeking to refine their appearance and boost their self-esteem.

Book a personalized consultation at Kamol Cosmetic Hospital and we can determine your eligibility for this procedure and discuss your specific goals in detail.

Otoplasty offers a range of benefits that extend beyond the purely cosmetic, impacting your self-perception and overall well-being:

  • Increased self-confidence: Feel more comfortable and self-assured in social situations, no longer preoccupied with the appearance of your ears.
  • Improved self-esteem: Address any negative feelings or insecurities associated with prominent ears, fostering a more positive self-image and greater self-acceptance.
  • Reduced social anxiety: For children and adolescents, otoplasty can help prevent potential teasing or bullying related to ear appearance, allowing them to navigate social situations with greater ease.
  • Enhanced overall well-being: Experience a greater sense of confidence and freedom, knowing that your appearance reflects your inner self.

Our skilled surgeons employ a variety of techniques tailored to your individual needs and ear structure:

  • Cartilage sculpting: This involves meticulously reshaping the ear cartilage to create a more natural fold and position, ensuring your ears look naturally beautiful.
  • Skin refinement: In some cases, excess skin may be removed to further refine the ear’s shape and contour, creating a more streamlined and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
  • Earlobe repositioning: If needed, the earlobe can be repositioned or reshaped to achieve optimal symmetry and balance, ensuring your ears are in perfect harmony with your facial features.

Our expert surgeons will carefully assess your ear structure and discuss your desired outcome to determine the most suitable approach for you.

You can expect some swelling and discomfort following the procedure, but rest assured that this can be effectively managed with medication.

Our dedicated team will also provide detailed post-operative instructions, including information on caring for your ears, managing discomfort, and resuming normal activities.

Our surgeons are very good at minimizing scarring, ensuring your results look as natural as possible. Incisions are strategically placed behind the ear, hidden within the natural folds, to make them virtually invisible.
